Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Jarvis software (the "App") and the jarvis.ceo website ("Site"). By installing, running, or accessing the App or Site, you agree to these Terms. Last updated 2026-06-10.

Plain English Summary

Jarvis is free, open source, and provided as-is. You can use it for any purpose, modify it, redistribute it. We make no warranties. If it breaks something on your Mac, deletes a file, sends an email you regret, or fails when you needed it most, that is unfortunately on you, not us. If you use optional cloud APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) you also agree to their terms. Be a decent person. Do not use Jarvis for illegal stuff. We can update these terms; continued use means you agree.

License

The Jarvis App is released under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the software, subject to the conditions of the MIT License (notably: include the copyright notice and license text in any substantial copy). The full license text ships in the App and is available at the GitHub repository. The MIT License does not grant rights to use the "Jarvis" name, logo, or branding for commercial purposes without permission.

Beta Software (Jarvis 2.0)

Jarvis 2.0 is pre-release beta software. It may contain defects, may change or remove features without notice, may break workflows between builds, and may in rare cases cause data loss on content it touches; keep backups of anything important. Beta builds send usage analytics and masked interface replays as described in the Privacy Policy, and this is disclosed during onboarding; you can disable both in Settings → Privacy → Analytics. We may end, reset, or limit the beta at any time.

No Warranty: Provided "AS IS"

THE APP AND SITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR COMPATIBILITY WITH YOUR SYSTEM. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that defects will be corrected. Speech transcription is probabilistic and will sometimes produce incorrect or offensive output; you must review output before relying on it for any consequential decision or communication.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL JARVIS AI, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP OR SITE, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the App or Site shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. The base Jarvis App is free; in that case our total liability is zero US dollars.

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for: (a) anything you say or type while using Jarvis and the consequences thereof; (b) any actions Jarvis takes on your behalf in other applications (sending email, scheduling meetings, modifying files, etc.). Jarvis executes what you instruct, and you remain accountable for those instructions; (c) keeping your own API keys (OpenAI, Anthropic, Deepgram, Google, etc.) secure if you choose to use them; (d) complying with applicable law in your jurisdiction; (e) reviewing transcription output for accuracy before acting on it.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Jarvis to: harass, threaten, defame, or harm any person; generate or distribute illegal content; impersonate any person without permission; violate the rights of others; bypass security measures of any system; or violate the terms of any third-party service (including but not limited to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Deepgram). Jarvis is a tool; misuse is on the user.

Third-Party Services

If you enable optional cloud transcription or LLM features by supplying your own API keys, your use of those services is governed by the terms of the respective provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Deepgram, etc.). If you connect a Google account (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) via OAuth, your use of those services is additionally governed by the Google Terms of Service and the Google API Services User Data Policy at https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy. You are responsible for reading and complying with all such terms. We are not party to your agreement with those providers and bear no responsibility for their service, output, billing, or data handling. See our Privacy Policy for a detailed description of which Google scopes Jarvis requests, why each is needed, and how the data is handled.

Actions Jarvis Takes On Your Google Account

If you connect a Google account, Jarvis can read content from Gmail, Calendar, or Drive within the scopes you have granted, and — if you have explicitly granted the relevant incremental-authorization upgrade — perform write actions on your behalf (for example sending an email through gmail.send or creating an event through calendar.events). You are responsible for any action Jarvis takes on your Google account at your instruction, including but not limited to messages sent, events created, files written, or labels modified. Jarvis executes the action you ask for; you remain accountable for the consequences. We strongly recommend reviewing Jarvis output before sending mail or modifying calendar items. You may revoke Jarvis's access to your Google account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions; once revoked, Jarvis can take no further action on that account.

Open Source Contributions

If you submit a pull request, issue, or other contribution to the Jarvis GitHub repository, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, distribute, and sublicense your contribution as part of the App under the MIT License. You represent that your contribution is your own work and does not violate any third-party rights.

Jarvis 2.0 Waitlist

Signing up for the Jarvis 2.0 waitlist does not grant any right, license, or guarantee of access to Jarvis 2.0. Joining the waitlist creates no contract, agency, employment, or fiduciary relationship between you and us. We will email you when Jarvis 2.0 opens up, and you may unsubscribe at any time.

Termination

You may stop using Jarvis at any time by quitting and deleting the App, and (if you wish) clearing the user data folder. We may also discontinue the App, the Site, or any feature at any time without notice. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive (warranty disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) survive termination.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jarvis AI, its contributors, and affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of: (a) your use of the App or Site; (b) any content or instructions you produce or give Jarvis; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

Changes To These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms at jarvis.ceo/terms-of-service and update the Last Updated date. Material changes will be announced on the Jarvis website. Continued use of the App or Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
